Advanced Digital Design S.A. (ADD) is a fabless company focused on providing System on Chip (SoC) solutions including microprocessors and communications capability. ADD products are oriented to mass market applications such as AMI or home and industrial automation.
IBERDROLA is one of the principal private energetic groups in the World, present in almost 40 countries and 4 continents.
This is why IBERDROLA has gathered the relevant national and international industry players in the areas of metering, telecommunications, and silicon manufacturing to define, test and develop an open, public and standard AMI (Automatic Meter Infrastructure), into what is called PRIME project (Powerline Related Intelligent Metering Evolution). Current industrial PRIME partners are Advanced Digital Design, Current Technologies, Landis&Gyr, STMicroelectronics, Usyscom and ZIV. A large number of European utilities have already expressed their interest in joining the project. Read more...
The ADD1000AQF128 is a Power Line Communications System on Chip, it implements a full PLC node. It includes an enhanced 8051 microcontroller (IP core ADD8051C12A), a Medium Access Controller (MAC) (IP core ADD1200) and a Modem circuit for the EHS/KNX Power Line medium specifications (IP core ADD1300). The MAC acts as link between the microcontroller and the modem, but it can be set in bypass mode allowing direct control of the modem by the microcontroller. The ADD1000 is designed to be used by OEM and provides a low cost and small size solution for narrow band power line communications.
Advanced Digital Design S.A is a world-leading semiconductor company specialized in the design of systems on a single integrated circuit (SoC) for specific markets. ADD chips include, in a single integrated circuit; microprocessor, memory, networking, communications, and specialized functions to provide low cost solutions. Since its foundation in 2001, ADD focus has been solving engineering challenges associated with the narrow band Power Line Communication (PLC).
ADD provides manufacturers with the chip set, the embedded software and all the reference designs for PLC devices, PLC concentrators and GPRS access devices of PLC system to conform a complete system in AMR and Home Automation application.
ADD designs PLC systems using international, royalty free, open standards.
ADD participates intensely in several R&D European projects. ADD SoC solutions are based on internationals standards ADD is one of the members of the prestigious OPERA consortium, which consists of utilities, technology companies, research institutions and consultants. OPERA (Open PLC European Research Alliance) was launched by the European Commission as part of its larger broadband project "Broadband for All". OPERA will develop the new European Powerline standard. In OPERA, several PLC market leaders in different areas are heading key committees that will be working closely together with European and other international standardization bodies. ADD has been appointed to define the draft for the gateway from broadband PLC to narrowband PLC in the applications of AMR and home automation.
