  • OPEN METER: Open Public Extended Network Metering

    • Start date and duration: 01/01/2009 - 2 years.
    • Coordinator: IBERDROLA DISTRIBUCION.
    • Objectives: Open meter project aims to specify a comprehensive set of open and public standars for Advanced Metering Infraestruture (AMI) supporting multi commodities (Electricity, Gas, Water and Heat), based on the agreement of the most relevant stakeholders in the area. OPEN meter project will carry out the necessary research activities resulting in filling the existing knowledge gaps, and thereby enable the relevant industries to agree, inplement and embrace the nuew set of international standards that are specified. The solution will go far beyond electricity, gas, water and heat meter reading. The high data transfer rates expected to be delivered by the solutions proposed will alloow the provision of new services to the customer, given by energy service providers, while at the same time valuable information will be given to network operators taht will improve quality, reliability, and responsiveness to network failures. The solution will transform energy metering and control devices from beiing mere communication enabled devices into intelligent and interoperable nodes integrated in a modern AMI that will eventually reach not only home appliances but will also be connected with a variety of Control Systems and utility applications.
    • Results:
      • Provide a selection and a common understanding for the use of available open communication standars suited to support AMI.
      • Propose recommendations for changes or extensions to existing data communication standards (suited for AMI) adopted by standardisation organisations.
      • Fill the existing knowledge gaps in order to have definitions and specifications of new communication standards and technologies for those communication channels and/or new technologies where standards don´t yet exist, or do not meet AMI needs.
      • To start and support the official standardization process of the new selected and specified set of standards for AMI.
  • PINSEI - PLATAFORMA INTEGRAL DE SERVICIOS PARA EL EDIFICIO INTELIGENTE (Integral Platform of Services for the Intelligent Building).

    • Objectives: reaching a PLC based domotic network, capable of offering the same functionality than the other technologies, which is necessary taking into account the cost saving regarding them.
  • SR2 - Short Range Radio.
    • Participants: FAGOR ELECTRODOMESTICOS, IKERLAN, CEIT, AICIA, CNM-IMSE, IUMA, ADD.

    • Objectives:
      • Development of constructive blocks, integrated circuits and multi-standard or multi-physical layer platforms for the future devices, which will have to manage this variety of protocols in an acceptable range to ensure their place in the market.
      • Investigating and implementing very low consume solutions, and to contribute to the rising WPAN and WBAN standards, paying special attention to the imminent IEEE standard BAN.
      • Developing multi-mode Bluetooth chips and reconfigurable chips, capable of operating over several physical layers foreseen in the family of standards IEEE 802.15.
      • Reaching interoperability and coexistence of the developed solutions, by means of the development and evaluation of prototypes over multi-standard tests.
      • Integration and validation of the specific devices for domestic monitorization.
  • CREACIÓN DE SERVICIOS DE INTELIGENCIA AMBIENTAL EN EL HOGAR (Creation of environment intelligence services for the home).
    • Participants: UNION FENOSA COMERCIAL, DRAGADOS, ELECTRONIC INTELLIGENT CONTROLS, FAGOR ELECTRONICA, FUNDACION CARTIF, UNIVERSIDAD POLITECNICA DE MADRID, ADD.
    • Duration: 2007-2008.

      Convocatoria: PROFIT – S.I. Proyecto Tractores 4/2007.
    • Objectives: designing, testing, introducing and spreading services of energetic management at home with the following point of view:
      • Converting the concept "Environment intelligency, new paradigm that grows around the digital home" into the instrument for introducing energetic efficiency strategies at home, in order to help the user to optimize the energetic consumption in his home without losing comfort.
      • These strategies hold on several basic services of enery at home, which are management of electric charges, management of air conditioning and lighting systems, and they will be introduced over a multi-service residential gateway, providing the home with intelligence.
